Slouchy Tote Bag

I have been practicing with my new sewing machine.  I wanted to try to make a tote bag with some material my mother-in-law gave me.  I used iron-on quilt batting between the outside and inside layers to make it quilted.  The strap is quilted, too.  I hot-glued some magnets inside the bag to keep it together so nothing falls out.  I had a lot of fun making it!  It was a lot like sewing a pillow case... a very shallow pillow case, but really; it was a lot easier than I thought it would be! I may make a few for some gifts to keep on hand.  Maybe add some more pockets next time.  Anyway, I'm pretty proud of myself =)

  1. This is so cute!!! Love the colors you chose.

Thanks for showing this the Take it on Tuesday blog hop!! I'm definitely going to pin this!

  2. Cute, cute, cute!! You did a great job. I wouldn't have guessed that it was your first bag. I would love it if you would be willing to link up to our party going on now-Monday. Thanks

  3. This is so cute. I have some material to make a tote, but I'm a little afraid. Yours turned out so well I might just get brave enough to do it. Thanks so much for sharing at our Link It Up Thursday party.

  4. Thank you so much! It's a great bag to start with, and now I know I CAN do it, and I know what to change to make it better next time.
