Upcyled Book Case

My husband and I found a bookcase at a flea market for practically nothing.  The only problem was that it was hideously ugly.  The wood was chipped and scratched and what was left of the finish was horrible. But it was cheap and the perfect size.  We bought it anyway thinking we could refinish it.  Then we had a better idea...

I painted it!  Purple flowers in a red vase on one side and blue flowers in green vase on the other.


For the top... it is a bookcase after all!



Inside the cabinet, I modpodged old-looking scrapbook paper pieces to cover up the damages.  Everyone loves our cabinet and it has turned into quite the conversation piece!  It stands out in our living room and adds more art and color.  It would be fun to do something like this on a headboard one day...
