Time flies...

"Time flies when you're having fun."  I could not agree more.  Today my husband and I celebrate two years of marriage.  It does not feel like it's been that long, and yet it seems like forever.

I met my husband in the summer of 2007 when I was 19 and he was 22.  I remember the first time I ever saw him: sitting at a corner booth of a restaurant.  We were instant friends and a few months later, we started dating.

I remember the day we started looking at engagement rings.  It was very early into our relationship... about 6 weeks.  But when you know, you know.  And we did.  We knew that we had each found the one that we had been waiting for.

Nine months after we started dating, Andrew asked my parents for permission to marry me.  He set up a scavenger hunt at his house, and the treasure was the ring!  He proposed June 25, 2008.

Because we were both still so young (20 and 23) and still in school.  We decided to have a long engagement.  We didn't start to plan anything until summer of 2009. The first purchase for the wedding was my dress.  I highly recommend doing this first. The dress will set the tone for the rest of the day (fun, formal, indoor, outdoor, etc). With my background in art, we designed and printed the Save-the-Dates, invitations, and programs.  We made all the bouquets.  We kept the decorations very simple and classic.  As we completed each item in what came to be called the "all powerful spreadsheet,"  Andrew got to check it off.  Seeing the sheet get checked one box at a time until the to-do list shrank into nothing really made us realize that this was really happening!  We got married June 5, 2010.

After the wedding, real life hit.  We had many ups and downs and struggles, but through it all and by the grace of God, we made it out even stronger than before.  We moved after our first anniversary to a very small town in central Alabama where we live now.  Andrew works as a band director and I work with the special education program at the same school.  We are so blessed to be doing what we love.  We have made some amazing friends, and this place is really starting to feel like home.

Now it is the summer of 2012.  We met 5 years ago, got engaged 4 years ago, married 2 years ago, and moved 1 year ago.  Our goals now are to be buying a house soon and continuing down the path that God has brought us on together.

"Time flies when you're having fun."  But it also flies through "for better or worse,"  "sickness and health," and "loving and cherishing."  So I guess the truest part of that statement is "Time Flies."

I can't wait to see where we "fly" off to next!
