Project Nursery

I am so excited!! We are painting the nursery this Saturday!!! We used the gift cards we got at our house warming party to buy the paint last night.  I brought in a small paint chip of the yellow that I wanted, and the guy at the paint counter matched it for us to a Valspar brand color yellow since that paint is a little better quality than the sample I had.  The gray is matched to the gray on the baby blanket that my sister-in-law Jessica made for us right after we found out we were expecting!

The colors are actually a little brighter than they appear here.  The gray will be on three walls and the fourth wall will have yellow and white chevron stripes.  We don't know the gender yet, but since the walls are gender neutral, we can go ahead and get the painting out of the way.  We'll make it more "boy or "girl" with wall art and accent colors.  I'm so excited to get started!!

Week 15 (and a half)

15 and 1/2 week baby bump!
The wee one has definitely grown a lot over three weeks! I am really starting to show now, and I am so excited =)  Also, I'm beginning to feel little fluttery sensations.  What I'm feeling is not the baby, but rather the effects of the baby as he or she tosses and turns.  But it's great to finally feel something!
Morning sickness is totally gone (YAY!!), but I still can't eat or even stand the smell of ice cream, whipped cream, etc.  It's really strange.  I figured I'd be craving it since you always hear of pregnant women wanting ice cream, generally accompanied by pickles.  Not this mama!
At our next appointment, we should find out if we are expecting a boy or a girl.  Then all the planning will start.  I have so many ideas for either gender; I just want to find out which ones I'll get to use!
How far along? As of today, I am 15 weeks, 3 days

Due Date: March 7th 2013
Size of baby: a navel orange
Total weight gain/loss:. Right on track at 4 pounds gained
Stretch marks? None so far
Sleep:I am sleeping a lot better than before. I got a body pillow to wrap up on, so it's easier to sleep on my side now.
Best moment this week: Feeling the "goldfish" swimming around
Worst moment this week: Riding a school bus to an away football game.  I thought it was hard to be comfortable in a bus before...
Movement: "Quickening"- the techinical term for what I'm feeling
Food cravings: Anything cheesy!

What I miss: Shirts that fit
What I am looking forward to: Finding out whether the wee one is a baby boy or baby girl in hopefully three weeks!
Milestones: Finally starting to really show!

Beef Stroganoff

2 lbs Stew Meat
4 cups egg noodles (boiled and drained)
1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
2 tbs Cream Cheese
1 tbs Sour Cream

1. Put noodles on to boil.
2.  Season the meat however you like it, and cook it through on the stove in butter over medium-high heat. Drain.
3.  In the skillet with the meat, add the soup, cream cheese, and sour cream.  Heat over low to heat it through.
4. Drain the noodles, and add them to the meat and sauce.  Stir well to coat all the noodles. Serve warm.

One down...

 BabyFruit Ticker

So here I am about to be 14 weeks pregnant.  For the most part, the nausea has stopped (thank the Lord!), but I'm still waiting for the "burst of energy" that everyone says comes with the second trimester.  I am really looking forward to not wanting to put my head down and sleep all day.  I have had two doctor appointments so far, and both have gone very well and everything is normal.  At the 8 week appointment, I had an ultrasound where we finally got to see the "wee one."  My mom and my husband were there. It was a very surreal moment: knowing that in a very short amount of time, I will be able to hold that little baby.  The heard beat was a super-steady, super-FAST 180 beats per minute.  I could have listened to it all day.  We got three pictures from the ultrasound to take home.  Our baby's first picture!

At the second appointment (12 weeks), they did not do an ultrasound (much to my dismay; I really wanted to see how much the baby has grown!).  Instead they just did the sonogram, so we could hear the heart beat again.  It took her a minute to find it because the baby is still so small and is now beginning to squirm around.  The doctor said he or she was playing "hide and seek" =)  The little heart is still beating strong and steady, but a little slower now at 150 beats per minute.  Everyone keeps saying that a fast heartbeat is a sign that it's going to be a girl, but I have been craving salty foods rather than sweet, which is supposedly a sign that it's a boy... There's no way to know for sure until our next appointment at 18 weeks. As long as the baby is healthy, I'll be happy, but I can't wait to find out what we're having!

12 week bump- As of today I'm 13 weeks, 4 days

How far along?  As of today, I am 13 weeks, 4 days
Due Date: March 7th 2013
Size of baby: a fuzzy little peach
Total weight gain/loss:. +2 lbs (Dr. says I need to eat more, I say challenge accepted!)
Stretch marks? None so far
Sleep: I'm tired constantly.  All I want to do is turn my light off, lock my door, crawl under my desk, and take a nap.  No one would have to know!
Best moment this week: I found a dresser that I can use as a changing table at a thrift store!  I am going to repaint it and replace the hardware, but it's in perfect condition!
Worst moment this week: Trying to get used to sleeping on my side.  After the first trimester, sleeping on your back is a no-no, and sleeping on your stomache is incredibly uncomfortable.
Movement: I haven't felt it, but I know it's happening.
Food cravings: I just finished off an entire bag of dill pickle potato chips.  And not the individual size, either.
What I miss: Not having to use the restroom every thirty minutes.
What I am looking forward to: Finding out whether the wee one is a baby boy or baby girl
Milestones: Finishing up the first trimester. One down, two to go!
